Error when downloading/uploading annotations "You do not have permission to view the requested..."

After annotating a document which is contained in the group (i.e. not the personal library) - either through highlighting or adding a note - there is an error when I attempt to upload or download the annotated file. I cannot post the entire error log as this page says "Invalid characters found", however within the error log appears the text: "You do not have permission to view the requested annotation" I have no problem sharing the file itself and syncing the pdfs but I cannot complete the sync without the above error if any of the files have annotations in them
