We are trying to have multiple authors edit the citations, using Mendeley.
My colleague has given me a first pass of the document, with his citations. When I try to edit a citation, Mendeley tells me I have to hit “refresh” in the plug-in before I can edit a citation. When I do this, I get a series of prompts about whether to import, or instead use something similar from library. Whether I say to use from my library or to import, at some point I get the error: “The range cannot be deleted. (6028) in Microsoft Word. For more help, please visit http://support.mendeley.com. No matter what I do, I get this error message.
Again, we would gladly pay to have a working tool.

Mendeley web as our only storage space
Hi
We are a group of people that needs to upload and share a large amount of articles on a single database.
We do not want to save the articles on our own laptops however, but only on the web. I know that with mendeley dektop, if I delete a file on my computer that was also saved on mendeley desktop the article fails to open in mendeley desktop.
Does this mean that we as a group MUST save and keep the articles on our computers as long as we want to access them on mendeley web? We dont want to store the articles on our computers at all, just on the web. Is this possible?

add annotations and share in the private group
Hi,
I know this was asked before by someone, but allow me to ask you once again.

If I have a pdf to which I have added notes and highlights and then (after I've made these annotations) I moved this document to a group, will my annotations--the annotations I made to the document prior to it being in a group--will these be visible to the group?

The answer should be "invisible" because the annotations are made in my own library but in the private shared group. Is there any way I can keep these annotations with PDF after I move the PDF to the private group? Because I have already made many annotations on PDFs in my own library and it's troublesome to re-add these annotations again.

Sync between My Library and Groups
I have a personal library on my local machine as well as on my personal space on the web. I appropriately started a group for our team for facilitating co-authoring in our team.
Group members all add numbers of files to the group to share. However, after the file is in the group any changes made to the file will not sync back to My Library and the "All Documents" view. And changes made in My Library will not sync back to the group...
To me this doesn't make sense. All Documents should really be All Docuements and a Group should be a sub-set in the same way as "My Documents" or any other Folder that I add in My Library.
So, how can I share part of My Library?

For personal use Mendeley is really neat, but group work is buggy..
Still very few people work independently of others which is evident from the number of authors in most scientific papers.

How do I share my library with a colleague
Greetings
I have created one master library of files which I want to allow up to five colleagues to access and interact with i.e. conduct searches, etc.
I have paid the monthly fee for up to five members.
How do I now invite them and give them access to the one library we are going to be working on?
Also, do they need to download all the files and Mendeley Desktop to their computer in order for them to be able to do this accessing/searching?

i have a group in my free account
that is private and only has 2 members and the other group member cannot open documents on her computer from mendeley desktop to review and annotate PDFs. i double checked the group was private (as this seems to be required for seeing documents) and synced. i am not beyond my limits in terms of storage either. what could possibly be wrong?

transfering citations
I have about 750 citations in a private group that I would like to add to a new public group. I can drag and drop a single citation. I tried selection all/some and dragging to the new group, but it does not work. Is there an efficient way to transfer them? I do not want to transfer the associated pdfs. Are they causing a problem going to a public group?

Moving Citations
If I want to move citations from a folder within Mendeley to a group is this possible? Otherwise, if I drag the original PDF's, I will have to hand adjust again the citations when the imported citations were not done correctly.

Transferring group ownership to non-group member
Hi,
I'd like to transfer ownership of my group to someone who is not a member. Apparently, that person first needs to become a member before I can transfer ownership, but the group is already maxed out (and this is the reason why I'd like to transfer ownership).

private group: no folders, no files attached for other group member
2 problems (private group).
First, When I created a group, I added folders to it and organized the documents for the group into those folders. When I view the group's documents in Desktop, everything looks fine and the folder structure is correct. However, when the other member of my group looks at the group's documents through his Mendeley account (either web or desktop) the folder structure is absent and all the documents are just dumped in together.
Second, bigger problem: When the other group member looks at the group documents, there is no PDF file attached. Thus, he cannot open any of the documents to read them, although he can view the metadata. Same as with problem #1, there seems to be no problem with the group document files when I look at the group from my account: all the files are there and the documents can be opened. But for the other group member, none of the documents can be opened, and in the "details" tab, the "files" subheading shows no file. He did try copying the documents into his personal library, but still no files are attached so he cannot open or read anything.

Not finding the group I am invited to
Hesitantly joining mandeley because a project I work on asks me to. They sent me invitation to join the group, but the gropup does not show up in the group search, even if i type exact group name, or several proxies. It seems that group search says I can serach groups 'within my domanin' or soemthing, but what if that group belongs to another domain? (I cannot see the domain)

Exporting a library from Endnote XIV with groups
I woul like to migrate to mendeley. I have an extrensive library in endnote with a lot of groups. Is it possible to also migrate te groups?

File attachments not visible to all members
We have a private group in Mendeley sharing references and PDF's and other files. I have run the Duplicates search and merged a lot of references. After that, some of the attached files are no longer visible to the other members of the group. I can still see the attached files, but the other members can't. We have synced, marked the "Download attached files from group" under File synchronization and I also tried to delete the old file only visible to me and attach a new one - but still I am the only one who can see the attached files. Could you please help us to understand - and fix - this?

Transferring 1957 documents from my library to a group
I have 1957 in my 'all documents' section.
I have 'selected all' and clicked on 'add these documents to X group'. When I click to confirm, nothing happens.
I leave it for a while, say 20 mins then I go to my Mendeley Desktop and press sync. The documents come up in the group section but only 957 or sometimes 2900. Even though it started off empty.
Can someone please explain this how I can transfer the exact 1957 documents? There will be duplicates in these 1957.

Cancel invitations to a group
Hi there
I have invited three people to join the Fulcrum Institutions group that I set up. None of these people have accepted the invitation. I do not remember who I invited and would like to remove the invitations. Can you tell me who I invited (their email address) and can I retract my invitations so that I can free up spaces to invite others?

Position change not reflected in Group membership
I recently changed position from PhD student to assistant professor and edited this in my account settings a while ago. However, my position has not changed in the members overview of a group I joined today. It still mentions the position I changed months ago. Could you please fix this or tell me what I have to do?

Upgrade
I upgraded my plan to increase my personal web space from 5 G to unlimited. I have a restricted group with several members and will be adding more. The shared web space dropped from 5 G to 500 MB. Are my settings wrong? Is the shared web space the place where my group members sync their desktops to? Or do the group members sync to my personal space? What do I need to change?

duplicate entries in bibliography
Hi there,
my question is related to groups and collaborative work. I am working together with another person on a manuscript and at some point we will merge our chapters. Right now, each one of us has a lot of citations and a bibliography at the end of the text. And most certainly (dead sure!) some articles will be referenced at multiple spots in the manuscript, sometimes with the entries in our local databases and sometimes with entries from the shared group.
This will result in some articles showing up multiple times in the bibliography more often than not.
Browsing through the combined bibliography, identifying multiple entries and resolving it by hand is rather laborious. I guess that by taking care from the beginning one could avoid this, though.
Is there a feature in mendeley to resolve this after finishing the manuscript?
